Privacy statement.
Plain English, because that is how we write everything: we collect only what you give us, we use it only to do the work you asked about, we store it encrypted, and we delete it when it is no longer needed, or when you ask. Last updated 6 October 2026.
What we collect
Information you choose to give us: contact details (name, email, phone) submitted through our enquiry form or tools; business and financial details you enter into tools such as the business valuation calculator; and documents you upload (for example, financial statements or management accounts). When you send an enquiry, the form also records how you arrived at the site where that is available: the landing page, the referring site, any campaign tags in the link, an advertising click identifier and the time of your first visit (and of your most recent visit from a search engine, an advertisement or another website). Your browser keeps those details on your device until you enquire, and they are sent only to us, with your enquiry, so we can tell which channels produce genuine enquiries. We do not buy data about you and, apart from those details, we do not collect information from your device beyond what is needed to serve the site.
Why we collect it
To respond to your enquiry, prepare the indicative guide or scoping output you requested, assess whether a formal valuation engagement makes sense, and, if you engage us, carry out that engagement. We do not use your information for advertising and we do not sell or rent it to anyone.
How it is stored and protected
Submissions travel over an encrypted connection (TLS/HTTPS). Uploaded documents and submission details are stored encrypted at rest (AES-256) in private, access-controlled storage on Cloudflare infrastructure, accessible only to Oliver Group. Formal engagement working files are retained for 10 years in line with professional standards; everything else follows the retention rules below.
How long we keep it
Tool submissions (including uploaded documents) are automatically deleted from storage after 90 days unless a formal engagement proceeds. Enquiry emails are retained as ordinary business correspondence. You can request earlier deletion at any time: use the enquiry form at the bottom of any page or call 0433 475 518, quote your reference if you have one, and we will delete the submission and confirm.
Who can see it
Oliver Group personnel involved in responding to you. Our infrastructure providers (for example Cloudflare, and our email delivery provider) process data on our behalf under their own security and privacy obligations. We do not disclose your information to anyone else unless you ask us to or the law requires it.
The business valuation calculator
The calculator runs in your browser. Unless you ask for the breakdown by email, nothing you type is sent anywhere: the only data sent is an event to the Google tag this site uses to measure its advertising, naming the industry chosen and the basis of the result, never your figures. If you ask for the breakdown by email, we receive your email address, the industry, figures and options you chose and the range calculated from them, the page you were on, how you arrived at the site where that is passed on (landing page, referring site, campaign tags, ad click identifier and time of first visit), your approximate country and your browser and device type. The request is received at valuationgroup.au by Valuation Group Pty Ltd, which operates this site, and is recorded in our practice management system like an enquiry; the breakdown is sent through our email delivery provider, Resend. To limit abuse we keep a keyed one-way hash of your IP address and of your email address for up to a day, separately from your request, after which it is no longer used and is cleared out. The website copy of your request is deleted automatically after 90 days; the practice management record is kept while it is needed to respond to you and to meet record-keeping obligations, and is deleted on request.
The connector for AI assistants
The read-only connector at olivergroup.com.au/mcp lets assistants such as ChatGPT and Claude look up our published fees, the published industry multiples and the pages on this site. It does not ask for your name or contact details, and it does not store the questions or figures sent to it. If you want a valuation, the assistant sends you to our enquiry form, and this statement applies to what you submit there.
Your rights
You may ask what information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it (subject to records we are legally or professionally required to keep). Contact us via the enquiry form at the bottom of any page or on 0433 475 518. If you are not satisfied with our response you may complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (oaic.gov.au).
