Independent business valuations, Australia-wide. Fixed fee from $1,495 + GST.
A business valuation is an independent, signed assessment of what a business is worth at a stated date and for a stated purpose. Oliver Group prepares them for sales, purchases, shareholder changes, tax events and restructures, at a fee set by annual turnover and fixed in writing before we start.
In short
A signed business valuation report from Oliver Group is $1,495 + GST for a business with annual turnover under $2 million, with a draft in 2 business days; $2,495 + GST for turnover between $2 million and $10 million, with a draft in 3 business days; and $3,495 + GST for turnover over $10 million or a start-up, with the delivery date agreed before commencement. Delivery time starts once payment and all required information have been received.

What a business valuation considers
The analysis considers the financial record and the commercial reality of the business. Earnings, assets, liabilities, customer concentration, key-person reliance and growth expectations can all affect value. A turnover figure or an industry multiple alone is rarely the whole answer.
The method is chosen against the facts of the business and the purpose of the report: capitalised maintainable earnings for an established profitable business, cash flow where the future differs from the past, market evidence where it exists, and net assets where the business is asset-heavy or not trading profitably. The report says which was used and why.
When a business valuation is needed
A sale or purchase where the asking price has to be tested; a shareholder or partner joining, leaving or being bought out; a restructure, rollover or related-party transfer where market value must be documented for the ATO; a capital raising or investor entry; succession or estate planning; and the disagreements between owners that an independent number usually resolves.
Family law valuations and expert reports for court are prepared by our sister practice, Family Law Valuation Co., under its own engagement terms. Tell us at the first call if that is the purpose.
How the fee is set
The fee is set by the annual turnover of the business and by nothing else: $1,495 + GST under $2 million with a draft in 2 business days, $2,495 + GST from $2 million to $10 million with a draft in 3 business days, and $3,495 + GST above $10 million or for a start-up with the delivery date agreed before commencement. Each additional entity is $795 + GST and each historical valuation date $495 + GST. Delivery time starts once payment and all required information have been received.
The fee is confirmed in writing before any work starts and never depends on the value we arrive at. We do not sell businesses and we take no commissions or referral fees.
What the signed report contains
The interest valued, the valuation date, the purpose and the basis of value; the information relied on; the normalisation of earnings, adjustment by adjustment; the method and why it fits the business; the conclusion with its assumptions and limitations; and the signature of the valuer you have been speaking with. You receive a draft for factual review before the report is signed.
Tell us the business, why you need the valuation, roughly what it turns over and any deadline. We confirm the package, the information required and the delivery date, and send a fixed fee in writing. There is no need to have documents ready for the first conversation.
Common questions.
How much does a business valuation cost in Australia?+
At Oliver Group a signed business valuation is $1,495 + GST for a business with annual turnover under $2 million, $2,495 + GST for turnover between $2 million and $10 million, and $3,495 + GST above $10 million or for a start-up. Additional entities and historical valuation dates are quoted separately, and the fee is fixed in writing before work starts.
How long does a business valuation take?+
A small-business draft is delivered in 2 business days and a medium-business draft in 3 business days, for factual review before the report is signed. For a large business or a start-up the delivery date is agreed before commencement. Delivery time starts once payment and all required information have been received.
Is a business valuation the same as a sale price?+
Not necessarily. A valuation expresses an opinion on a defined basis and date. A transaction price can also reflect negotiation, payment terms, buyer-specific benefits and the circumstances of the sale.
Do you need to visit the business?+
Usually not. Most engagements are completed by phone, video and secure document exchange, Australia-wide. Where a site visit would materially inform the analysis, we discuss it at scoping.
Will my accountant or lawyer be able to rely on the report?+
The report states its purpose, basis of value, valuation date, the information relied on, the method, every adjustment and the assumptions and limitations, so an adviser can follow and test each step. If an adviser sets a specific requirement for the report, send it before we scope the work.
What information do you need?+
Purpose and intended users of the report; the interest and the valuation date; recent financial statements and management accounts; the ownership structure and any agreement that sets a valuation mechanism. Nothing is needed before the first conversation.
