What is my business worth?
An indicative enterprise value range from your industry, annual revenue and, if you know it, normalised profit, with every step of the arithmetic shown on screen. The calculation runs in your browser and no email is required: nothing you type is sent anywhere unless you ask for the breakdown by email.
A guide, not a valuation: the range is indicative arithmetic on typical earnings multiple bands for Australian small and medium businesses. It is not a valuation of your business, is not signed, and cannot be relied on for tax, legal or transaction purposes. A signed Essential report is $1,495 + GST.
What a signed report adds.
The calculator multiplies an earnings figure by a typical band. A signed report does the work that the arithmetic cannot.
- Verified normalised earnings. The profit figure is tested against the accounts, with owner remuneration, one-off items and related-party arrangements adjusted on evidence rather than assumed.
- Evidence for the multiple. Where your business sits inside or outside the typical band, and why, with reference to the risk factors and comparable evidence that apply to it.
- The bridge from enterprise value to the value of the shares. Surplus cash, debt, working capital and non-operating assets, which the calculator leaves out.
- Whether an earnings approach is the right method. Some businesses are better valued on assets, forecasts or another basis, and the report says which applies and why.
- A stated purpose, basis and limitations. The report says what it was prepared for, the basis of value adopted and what it does not cover, so the reader knows how far it reaches.
Common questions about the range.
Is this a business valuation?
No. The calculator applies typical earnings multiple bands for Australian small and medium businesses to the figures you enter and shows every step of the arithmetic. The result is an indicative range, not a valuation, and it is not signed. A signed report tests the earnings, the evidence for the multiple and the bridge from enterprise value to the value of the shares.
What is enterprise value?
Enterprise value is the value of the operating business before surplus cash is added and debt is deducted. The value of the shares or units is a separate step, and working through it is part of a signed report.
Does the calculator send my figures anywhere?
Only if you ask it to. The calculator runs in your browser, nothing you type is stored or transmitted while you use it, and no email address is required. If you ask for the breakdown by email, your email address and the figures you entered are sent to us so we can email it to you, and we may follow up once. Our privacy notice explains how long we keep them.
